Awards At its Annual Aerospace Dinner held on November 13, AIAC announced the 2018 winners of three industry awards recogniz- ing achievement and excellence in Cana- dian aerospace. Viking Air Ltd. received the 2018 James C. Floyd Award, Dr. John MacDonald, co- founder of MacDonald, Dettwiler and As- sociates, received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Mannarino Systems and Soft- ware received the Small Business Innovation Technology Award. The latter two awards are inaugural industry excellence awards. Quick said that the winners highlight the lasting impact that Canadian innova- tion and ingenuity has had on global aero- space achievement. He went on to add that each winner is recognized around the world and continues to change the aero- space and space industries each day. The Summit The 2018 Aerospace Summit featured in- dustry leaders, federal cabinet ministers, and business experts in a program filled with a number of super-sessions and panels. The event attracted exhibitors, participants and delegations from France, the United King- dom and the Czech Republic during its two-day conference, B2B and trade show. Over the course of the summit, attendees heard from the Hon. Jean Charest, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Hon. Marc Garneau, Minister of Trans- port. The event also featured presenta- tions from senior executives from Airbus, Boeing, Bell Helicopter, Bombardier, GE Additive, Leonardo Helicopters, NASA, Nanos Research, Telesat, as well business experts and small business executives.
