White's own father spent over 40 years in the Armed Forces, training first as an Air Force fighter pilot, then becom- ing an Army pilot. After that, he was the Air Operations Officer for the Air Cadet League flight school in Trenton, ON. "I was naturally inclined towards the military," White muses. While honing leadership qualities throughout his early training – which in- cluded armoured reconnaissance, tank gunnery, and troop leading – he notes that of the recruits with whom he trained only half graduated. White progressed quickly and, by 19, was already qualified as an ar- moured troop leader and Lieutenant. He was taught by the Warrant Officer how to lead a troop of more than 20 people and seven armoured vehicles. Four months later, he was in full command. "It was really an opportunity for me to develop my leadership and develop my wings," he notes. "I already had a lot of leadership training from my grandfather and my father…I always thought it was my duty to look after my people, and that's what I've done all my life, look after peo- ple. That's what it's all about." White's leadership assignments grew in scope and responsibility. He completed a six-month peacekeeping tour in Cyprus, spent six months in Germany during which time he was promoted to Captain, and was part of an initial set-up mission in Haiti. He learned new skills in a variety of areas and became a specialist in Warsaw Pact tac- tics, going on to teach young officers. Over the years, he trained, studied and worked in Canadian communities like Chilliwack, Toronto, Kingston, Petawawa, Ottawa for nearly 70 years rousseau metal inc. has been designing and manufacturing high-quality storage products that combine modularity, durability and interoperability. rousseau operates out of rural quebec from two high-tech manufacturing plants totaling 254,000 square feet and is 100% canadian owned and operated.
