In 1998, Canada announced
it will be acquiring four
Upholder-class (Type 2400)
submarines - built in the UK for
the Royal Navy (RN) - as a gap
filler replacement for its ageing
Oberon-class submarines. Two
years later, the first of the four
submarines, HMCS Victoria was
commissioned into the Royal
Canadian Navy.
Here's an overview of the Victoria-class submarines and operational timeline to date.
