10 AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2021 www.vanguardcanada.com S SIT REP Frequentis awarded contract under RCAF Tactical Control Radar project by Thales Thales Canada Inc., prime contractor for Canada's Tactical Control Radar (TCR) contract, has selected Frequentis Canada Limited to provide mis- sion-critical communication equipment for TCR. The contract is to sup- port the future mission success of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) by providing three new TCR systems to be located in Bagotville, Quebec, and Cold Lake, Alberta. The modernisation of TCR will provide the RCAF with the means to sup- port national and international operations, providing tactical, transport- able, long-range air surveillance and aerospace control capability. We bring with us decades of experience and our field-proven, military-grade IT solutions, used by multiple forces around the globe. According to a news release, Frequentis will deliver and support its world-leading communication products, including its IP multi-domain se- cure communications system and its communication recording system. Both products are fielded with some of Canada's key military allies and the recording solution is also used widely around the globe in highly de- manding civilian Air Traffic Control (ATC) applications. "Thales Canada is very pleased to have Frequentis Canada on our TCR team and we have great confidence in the capabilities, availability, and supportability of the two products they will be providing to us", added Chris Pogue, Vice President and Managing Director of Thales Canada De- fence & Security. The secure communication system from Frequentis will provide a con- tinuous and secure voice over IP (VoIP) for access to all Link 16 voice channels, location independence, and bulletproof technology, with built- in redundancy. The Frequentis recording solution provides thorough documentation of all events and activities in a control room environ- ment and is fully compliant with the latest ED-137 standard (currently ED-137C), while providing backwards compatibility with legacy versions. GDLS-Canada selects Manac to aid in their bid for Canada's Logistics Vehicle Modernization project General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada has selected Manac Inc., a trailer manufacturer, to design and build the light capability trailer and the heavy equipment transporter in the General Dynamics team bid for Canada's Logistics Vehicle Modernization (LVM) project. This project is part of Initiative #40 of Strong, Secure, Engaged for which Canada is looking to "acquire new fleets of light and heavy logistics vehicles, trail- ers, vehicle modules, armour protection kits, initial in-service and logis- tics support and fund associated permanent infrastructure upgrade and construction requirements." Logistics Vehicle Modernization Team is made up of General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, Mercedes-Benz, Marshall Canada, and SOFRAME. According to a news release, the LVM light capability trailers will be designed and produced at Manac's main plant and head office in Saint- Georges, Quebec, while the design and production of the heavy equip- ment transporters will be performed by a Manac-partner organization. The company has five manufacturing plants, one in Oran, Missouri, one in British Columbia, and three in the province of Quebec. Manac is a privately owned Canadian company that was founded in 1966 by Marcel Dutil in Saint-Georges, Quebec. The company is currently being led by Marcel's son, Charles Dutil, who is the long-time President and CEO of the company.
