TO DAY?
I'm not really a 'status quo is good enough' person. Right now I fear
that our collective acceptance of many practices in Defence, such as
procurement policies, inclusion of industry, and changing ways of
working, may be depriving service personnel of solutions which industry
technical, scientific and policy experts could provide. It is beholden on all
of us to take every opportunity to demonstrate worth and contribution
potential from all aspects.

BMT operates in a number of different market sectors globally and
provides a wide variety of skilled offerings. This enables us to transfer
learning. We work hard to foster constructive and collaborative
relationships with our industry partners and customers, enabling us
to work with them on change. Technologically we continue to develop
solutions and approaches which challenge the current norm.

Due to the long lifecycle of major defence assets, and in
particular maritime, technological change often takes a long
time to be embraced and implemented. Globally the rate
of change of technological capability and its employment
seems to be getting ever faster. As a sector we need to be
able to find new ways to implement technology so that
Canadian assets remain relevant.

To embrace change as
opportunity. Instinctively
most of us are negatively
unsettled by change,
but we miss out on
many opportunities
if we avoid it.
