When asked to make Canadaʼs Polar Icebreaker capable of year-round operations in one of the worldʼs most extreme environments, we rose to the challenge — and so did the Polar Icebreaker. Upgraded to operate in the high Arctic year-round, it will now handle temperatures as low as -50°C, a significant drop from the original -35°C spec. This isnʼt just about breaking ice; itʼs about breaking boundaries. With these enhancements, Canada can assert its presence in the Arctic like never before. Built to support the Canadian Coast Guard and strengthen our nationʼs security and scientific capabilities, the ship is a high-water mark for Canada and our shipbuilding industry. Weʼre proving no matter how demanding the challenge, weʼll always stay flexible. Driving Improvement. -50°C DOESN'T SLOW US DOWN. IT DRIVES US FORWARD.
