Canadian Armed Forces participates in Australia's largest
military exercise
The CAF participated in the largest-ever iteration of Exer-
cise TALISMAN SABRE 25 (Ex TS25), which took place in and
around Australia and Papua New Guinea from July 13 to Au-
gust 4, 2025. Approximately 600 CAF personnel participated
in Ex TS25 with more than 30,000 military personnel from 19
nations. Ex TS25 marked Canada's largest single deployment
of military personnel to the Indo-Pacific region which featured
large-scale warfighting exercises, including firepower demon-
strations, tactical sustainment rehearsals, and joint operations
across land, air, sea, space, and cyber domains. It was also the
first major exercise to involve a broad spectrum of Canadian
Armed Forces capabilities deployed together, including per-
sonnel and assets from the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian
Army, Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Canadian Forces Cy-
ber Command (CAFCYBERCOM), 3 Canadian Space Division
(3 CSD), and Canadian Special Operations Forces Command
(CANSOFCOM). Participation in Ex TS25 also strengthened
Canada's defence cooperation with the Australian Defence
Force and advanced the priorities set out in the Joint State-
ment on Strengthening the Canada–Australia Defence Rela-
tionship. "The Canadian Armed Forces are proud to contribute
its largest contingent ever to Exercise TALISMAN SABRE 25,"
General Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defence Staff stated in
a press release.
