Inside industry inBrief National Defence has awarded General Dynamics Canada a contract to develop and demonstrate an automated computer-network defence capability to enhance the security of its networks. The ARMOUR project, conceptualized by DRDC, will develop and integrate advanced solutions to defend DND networks and protect mission critical information. Cassidian Communications is expanding its footprint in the National Capital Region. The EADS subsidiary, which recently moved to a new 53,170-square-foot facility in Gatineau, Quebec, has invested R&D resources in its Land Mobile Radio division. Montreal's Revision Military will provide 3,000 more of its Batlskin Cobra helmets to the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization. The deal is an addition to a seven-year agreement under which revision has already delivered 4,335 helmets. Revision also signed a five-year agreement with the Swiss Armed Forces to supply all of its protective eyewear. Allen-Vanguard of Ottawa has sold its Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, consisting of the MedEng bomb suit, bomb disposal robots, and ancillary tools, and its Crew Survivability business, consisting of blast attenuation and thermal management products. Montreal-based L-3 MAS and its partner, Avianor, have been awarded a multi-year in-service support contract for the Royal Canadian Air Force CC-150 Polaris Airbus fleet. The agreement runs to 2018, with the option for two additional five-year contracts, and has a potential value of $683 million. It follows an interim ISS contract that was awarded in June 2012. I Lockheed Martin has announced a multi-year contract with Moncton's Apex Industries for structural parts that will span the forward fuselage and wing of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The contract is one of 34 that Lockheed Martin has with Canadian companies for the F-35 program worth approximately $500 million. BAE Systems has awarded a contract to Montreal-based CAE to provide three Hawk Mk127 full-mission simulators for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The simulators are part of an upgrade program to the Hawk aircraft and the training systems that BAE Systems is delivering under a program called Project AIR5438 program. Vector Aerospace Engine Services-Atlantic of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, has been awarded a contract valued at more than $1 million for repair and maintenance on the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-27 turboprop engines of the CC-138 Twin Otters. The contract also includes seven one-year extension options, which could increase the value to $ 7.9 million over a 10-year period. EMCON, a Canadian subsidiary of API Technologies' secure systems and information assurance business, has partnered with a Canadian defence contractor to win a three-year, $15 million contract with a Canadian government agency for secure communication products. EMCON will supply deployable secure communication suites. Kitchener-based Clearpath Robotics has received international recognition for its most recent robotic platform, the Grizzly Robotic Utility Vehicle. The Grizzly was named "Best New Product or Service of the Year – Industrial Products & Services" at the 10th Annual International Business Awards. The awards, nicknamed the Stevie Awards for the Greek word "crowned," attract over 3,000 nominations from organizations in more than 50 countries.
