in Ottawa. The event has been held at the Connaught Ranges since 1921. The highest award at CAFSAC is the Queen's Medal for Champion Shot pre- sented to the shooter obtaining the highest aggregate score during Stages 1 and 2 of the Queen's Medal matches. Two Queen's Medals are awarded annu- ally: one to a member of the Canadian Regular Force and one to a member of the Canadian Primary Reserve Force. This year, Cpl Jean-Christophe Boivin-Couillard from the 2nd Canadian Di- vision team, 2nd Battalion Royal 22nd Regiment, and Cpl Jonathan Palmer from the 5th Canadian Division team, 1st Battalion Nova Scotia Highlanders, were the top marksmen. Over 550 shooters and supporting staff participated in CAFSAC, with teams representing Regular Force and Primary Reserve units, Canadian Ranger Pa- trol Groups, several Canadian police forces, as well as international teams from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. "This event has brought together some of the best shooters in the Cana- dian Armed Forces to learn from each other, our allies and participating police forces. The experience gained at CAFSAC will benefi t all by infl uencing and improving marksmanship throughout the Canadian military and police forces and help save lives," said LCol Don Haisell, director of CAFSAC. The Cana- dian Armed Forces will join an international coalition in a combined task force led by the United States, while under Canadian national command, that to date has already conducted over 300 air strikes on targets in Iraq.
