In the new year, we are looking to host a few events that are strategically set to bring together industry and government in open discussions. The first event that we have planned for 2017 is the C4ISR and Beyond confer- ence that is set for February 2. This is a one-day conference that was created to facilitate an open dialogue among military, government and industry to discuss trends and technologies in C4ISR and examine how Canada can best leverage the emerging capacity for DND objectives. This conference is meant to be profes- sional development conference with the goal to open discussion between suppli- ers in critical C4ISR posts with DND in a panel environment to share challenges and exchange lessons learned. The other event that we have on the cards is the Shipbuilding Technology Fo- rum that is planned for March 2. This is also an annual one-day conference that is intended to showcase emerging technologies and address a range of marine, shipbuilding, and ship repair issues and the advantages they provide to growth and export. This event facilitates meaningful dialogue between industry, military, and government. In doing so, stakeholders can take advantage of knowledge and lessons learned from a technological perspective. Both events are about knowledge transfer and thought leadership. Please see the ads within this issue to learn more and visit our dedicated event websites to get the latest update on speakers and agenda. I now want to turn your attention to the December/January 2017 issue, of which we've dedicated a significant portion to cyber security. As you know, cyber is one of the priorities that the Prime Minister has mandated the Minister of De- fence to put on his list to ensure that Canadians are kept safe from cyber threats. We have a story on Canada and Cyber War, and Nicole Virkindt, the technology editor of Vanguard, has an insightful piece on Cyber Security and how vital it is for businesses and government to identify technologies to cover cyber vulner- abilities. Also in this edition, we feature our Game Changers: Canadians who are truly making a difference in the realm of security and defence. Learn more about Kevin West, the Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer and his most challenging time in his life as a leader. Also read about Yassir Rizwan, CEO of Labforge Inc., a company that is changing the game within the industry with smart sensors, and Aubrey Eveleigh, President and CEO of Zenyatta Ventures Ltd., who heads a team that has taken a rare form of graphite that they discovered in 2012 to the next stage. I would like to draw your attention to pages 32-33, to read the super exciting news about the partnership between Vanguard and the Conference of Defence Associations and the CDA Institute in introducing the Captain Nichola Goddard Game Changer Award. This is about taking the Game Changers that we have started in February of 2016 to the next step. I hope you enjoy this issue as much as we've enjoyed putting it together.
