C3 CENTRES Today and Tomorrow LEGACY C3 CENTRE 24 DECEMBER 2017/JANUARY 2018 www.vanguardcanada.com T THE DASHBOARD The need for actionable information is driving the deployment of vast networks of sensor, video, manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft, satellite, radar and other system inputs, collecting petabyte upon petabyte of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data every day. This information is fed into C3 – or Command, Control and Communications – centres for processing, analysis and decision making. However, the legacy audio-visual and IT architectures of most C3 centres inhibits the sharing and understanding of this data, and can pose a security risk from intentional or accidental hacking or data breach when dealing with confidential or classified information.
