SAF can reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle and is a key solution for aviation sector de- carbonization. The Government of Canada selected the P-8A Poseidon in November 2023 as part of the Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft (CMMA) project. Boeing's CMMA ITB investments build on the more than $2B in P-8 contracts with Canadian companies, con- tributing to economic growth and generating $358M CAD an- nually in economic output, according to an independent study by Doyletech Corporation. Boeing is investing $17.48 million CAD to advance sustain- able aviation fuel (SAF) production as part of its Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) commitment to Canada, follow- ing the selection of its P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The investment supports two SAF projects: • $10M CAD for Project Avance (Port Cartier, Quebec): A joint venture between Bioenergie AECN and Alder Renewables to convert wood residuals into biocrude for SAF, aiming to pro- duce 10M gallons (37.85M liters) annually • $7.48M CAD for Dimensional Energy: Scaling its carbon uti- lization technology to convert industrial CO2 emissions into synthetic aviation fuel, supporting future projects capable of converting 500K tonnes of CO2 into 40M+ gallons (151.42M liters) of SAF annually. "This significant investment in SAF production demonstrates our commitment to scaling sustainable aviation fuel and to our work in Canada, where we have driven innovation for over a century," said Al Meinzinger, president, Boeing Canada. "With 2,000 employees across Canada, Boeing is committed to sup- porting Canada's aerospace industry and domestic productiv- ity and advancing exciting new energy innovations."
